Baptism

The sacrament of Baptism is how we welcome new believers into the household of faith. When we are baptized, we celebrate the mystery of God's love in our lives and publicly declare our commitment to follow Jesus. In Baptism, we also affirm the membership of the whole church in the holy family of Jesus. If you are interested in receiving the sacrament of Baptism, or if you have a child you would like to have baptized, please contact Archdeacon Patrick directly.

Confirmation

Confirmation is an opportunity for a person of faith to claim or re-affirm the baptismal promises made when they were baptized. This sacrament is often celebrated by young people who were baptized as infants, though it is available to adults also. The service of confirmation is presided over by the Bishop of Ottawa and is preceded by a time of age-appropriate faith exploration and training. Please speak with Archdeacon Patrick for more information about confirmation.

Marriage

St. Barnabas offers the sacrament of marriage to members of the parish and the wider community. Weddings follow the religious traditions of the church and are generally held in the church building. Arrangements can sometimes be made for the service to take place at another location. St. Barnabas is open to exploring the sacrament of marriage with all those who seek it, regardless of age, sexual orientation, gender identity, or previous marital status. If you are a couple planning to be married, please be in touch with Archdeacon Patrick as soon as possible to begin making arrangements.

Funerals

The death of a loved one can be emotionally and spiritually difficult. St. Barnabas offers pastoral care to those who are approaching the end of life, and those experiencing loss. Funeral services can be held at the church or elsewhere. Please speak with Archdeacon Patrick to make arrangements together.
